We launch our first creative break this summer on 11th June with a residential pottery masterclass led by leading ceramicists Martin and Siobhan Miles-Moore. It doesn’t matter how much potting experience you have – total beginner or happy hobby potter, Martin and Siobhan have heaps of experience and will be on hand to offer one to one guidance throughout.
are available which means you get plenty of opportunity to learn under the watchful eye of experienced potters Martin Miles-Moore and his wife Siobhan. The course is structured to encourage everyone to think about their surroundings and to use their senses to help them create unique pieces of work during their stay. Each potter will get one to one tuition using the wheel to create and finish a piece, as well as having the opportunity to hand build some pieces too. During their stay students, will have the opportunity to pick up hints and tips from the experts and put them into practice, including techniques such as Raku and Sgraffito.
This course is meant to give you a taste of many aspects of ceramics. During the two days you will decorate and fire a Raku vase, throw and finish a bowl, make and decorate a bonbon dish, make and decorate tiles/coasters.
At the end of the course, Martin and Siobhan will dry and fire the items you’ve made and then send them on to you by post.
From 3pm on the 11th of June. That evening there will be a drinks reception with tutors Martin and Siobhan Miles-Moore at 6.30pm, followed by a four course dinner in the Stables private dining room.
After breakfast the following day, tuition will start at 9.00am and go through until 5pm, with an hour break for lunch at 1.00pm. Dinner that evening will be at 7.30pm and will be a six course tasting menu created especially by our head chef, Oli Martin.
On the final day, tuition will begin after breakfast at 9.00am and will go on until 1.00pm. Guests will be served lunch before departure on the 13th.
Accommodation in one of our stable rooms for 2 nights, all food, tuition from Martin and Siobhan and materials during the course.
For an individual participant based on single occupancy the rate will be £460. For a couple staying with only one person participating in the course, the rate will be £610, and if both people participate £790. Rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
