If you are like us, and love your food and wine, then join us on the 17th of May for what promises to be a real treat.

Italians may not have invented wine, but my goodness, they certainly have a serious passion for it! After all, wine is a very important part of everyday Italian life, and as the Italians say,  ‘Il vino fa buon sangue’, ‘Good wine makes good blood.’

Wine merchant extraordinaire, Rob Bagot, from Buon Vino in Settle, and our very own head chef Oli Martin, have teamed up to create a stunning six course menu of cutting edge British cuisine and fine Italian wine.

From 7.00pm Rob will talk to guests about his wine choices for the evening and offer an insight into his passion for Italy’s artisan wine producers, especially for his latest discovery Cinque Campi (Five Fields).

This 200-year-old vineyard in the foothills of the Reggiano Apennine Mountains in Emilia-Romagna region of north eastern Italy produces truly sensational wines. Before 1980 the family only produced wines for themselves, however, after much careful thought they decided to share what they were producing with the rest of the world. By 2005 they had taken steps to reintroduce historic and rare vine varieties, which allowed the family to continue to diversify and create the high quality original wines they produce today. By using native grape varieties like Malbo Gentile and Spergola; as well as varieties, such as Lambrusco Grasparossa, Marzemino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat and Carmenere they have created the ultimate in buon sangue…

Alternatively, you could really indulge yourself and make a night of it! Dinner for two people, overnight accommodation and breakfast the next morning starts from £329 based on two people sharing a Cosy Room.
