Celebrate Christmas in the Yorkshire Dales at Hipping Hall
The charm and intimate nature of our 17th Century country house makes Christmas at Hipping Hall very special indeed. Our three-day Christmas package revolves around plenty of good food, relaxation and bags of festive cheer.
At Hipping, we really like to go to town during the festive period and celebrate in fine style. With that in mind, we would like to welcome you from 3.00pm with a tot of our rather special mulled wine and a mince pie or two. Prior to dinner you are welcome to relax and warm yourself by our lounge fire, meet your fellow guests and settle into the festive mood.
During the evening your culinary adventure will begin… with Champagne and canapes heralding the commencement of your festive experience, followed by a total treat in the form of a specially created seven course tasting menu, crafted by our head chef Oli Martin. During dinner, guests can soak up the atmosphere of our wonderful 15th century dining room with its roaring log fire and really get into the swing of the festive season.
Christmas day itself is a leisurely one and starts with a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day. Lunch of course, is the main event and is bound to be the highlight of your day with a stay as you indulge in head chef Oli’s take on a traditional turkey lunch accompanied by plenty of intriguing dishes for those wanting to try something a little different this festive season…
You have a choice of sitting at large tables in house party style or on an individual table of your own.
If you’re feeling energetic in the afternoon and in need of some fresh air, then there’s a lovely walk from the rear of Hipping over the fields to the ancient church of St. Peter’s, Leck, (which the Bronte’s attended when schooled in Cowan Bridge at the Clergy Daughters School) and to the high fells beyond. Fingers crossed for a truly magical festive season we may even be lucky enough to enjoy a flurry or two of the white stuff to dust the rolling landscape around and about.
In the evening, we’ll serve delicious cold collation platters with lots of interesting tastes from 7.30pm.
After a delicious breakfast Boxing Day is yours to enjoy. There’s plenty to see in the local area, perhaps a visit to the beautiful market town of Kirkby Lonsdale for a pint in a local hostelry or a stroll by the River Lune to take in Ruskin’s View. For those with room we’ll be putting on an informal platter style lunch for guests to enjoy. Otherwise it’s back for dinner for either three or six courses of Oli’s delicious food.
After a lazy breakfast, it’s time to say our goodbyes to new friends and old acquaintances
